Melinda has worked developing affordable homeownership opportunities on the north Olympic peninsula for more than 12 years. She worked as an AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteer with Serenity House in Clallam County followed by 9 years with the Clallam Housing Authority. While at the Housing Authority she was the Section-8 Family Self-Sufficiency program director, and established an Individual Development Account (IDA) program in partnership with First Federal and OlyCAP, a successful housing counseling program and the USDA Mutual Self Help housing program in 2004. Melinda was responsible for initiating one of the first Section-8 Homeownership Programs in Washington with more than 18 households purchasing their first homes. She was recognized with a FRIEND OF HOUSING AWARD in 2007 by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission.
Ms. Szatlocky has served as the Program Developer for Homeward Bound, since September 2007. She is responsible for securing Housing Counseling grants as well as funding from Washington State Housing Trust Fund to provide permanent subsidy for CLT homes. She has attended the CLT Capacity Building Institute an extensive program for emerging CLT’s given by the Northwest CLT Coalition.
